Susan “Sue” C. Bartel

Susan “Sue” Christine Bartel, 75, of Dodge Center, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on September 25, 2025. Sue was born on September 24, 1950, to Donald and Marguerite Smith.

Family was the center of Sue’s life. She was a loving mother, but even more so cherished her role as a grandmother, finding her greatest joy in time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She and her husband, John, created a home that became a place of laughter, comfort, and generosity – a haven where all were cared for.

She was proud to be part of the team that opened the Kwik Trip in Dodge Center, where she worked with loyalty and dedication for more than 25 years. Known for her radiant smile and warm personality, Sue had a gift for making people feel welcome and special. She truly enjoyed seeing and connecting with others, and her kindness left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Sue will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Tonia (David) Weitzenkamp and Chris Ramer; grandchildren, Riki Jo Weitzenkamp, Logan Weitzenkamp, Drake Weitzenkamp, Kyra (Mark) Ash, and Ethan (Karina) Ramer; great-grandchildren, Tommy Ash, Hunter Ash, and Dante Johannsen; and her brothers, Keith (Sherry) Smith and Gary (Mary) Smith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Bartel, and brothers, Nicholas, Jack, Layne, and Joseph Smith.

Sue’s legacy of loyalty, laughter, and love will forever live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
