Jean I. Weitzenkamp
Jean Weitzenkamp, age 96, of Dodge Center, a beloved mother, grandmother and matriarch, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 13, 2025, at Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center. Jean was born to Albert & Hazel (Mae) Pettitt on July 28, 1929, in Little Cedar Iowa. Her life was one defined by compassion, devotion, and an unwavering love for those she held dear.
Born with a nurturing spirit and strength that carried her through life’s joys and challenges, Jean built a legacy of family grounded by love. On June 13, 1948, she married the love of her life, Dennis Weitzenkamp, beginning a partnership marked by deep commitment and shared purpose. Together they raised seven children, creating a home filled with warmth, laughter and love. Jean’s family continued to grow over the years, and she embraced each new addition with pride & affection.
Jean leaves behind six children; Carol Mahon of Rochester, Dennis (LuAnn) Weitzenkamp of Plainfield, Iowa, Donna Ellison of Waverly, Iowa, Ruth (Jeff) Wendler of Dodge Center, Julie (Scott) French of Wasioja, David (Tonia) Weitzenkamp of Dodge Center; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty-four great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Jean is preceded in death by her husband, one son Jon, two sons-in-law Bobby Jostock and Tom Mahon, two granddaughters Jodi and Hieda, one brother Bob, and her twin sister June.
The memorial service for Jean will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Faith Lutheran Church in Dodge Center with Pastor Cheryl Indehar officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center.
