Grant David Schimek
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Grant David Schimek on January 23rd, 2025, at the age of 42.
Grant David Schimek was born on February 8th, 1982, to David and Susan Schimek. Grant grew up with his three brothers and sister in Goodhue, Minnesota, and graduated high school with the Goodhue Class of 2000. He went on to finish carpentry school and had been a carpenter perfecting his craft ever since. For the last several years, he enjoyed working for one of his best friends, Adam Buck, at BRC Construction in Goodhue, Minnesota.
Grant married Laura, and in that union, they had two children, Reagan Leora and Jacob David. Grant was a very proud father, and his children were his whole life and devotion. Grant was a very hardworking, devoted man to those who were close to him. He cared so much for everyone in his circle and was always making sure everyone around him was doing well and cared for. It was all too often that he was called to lend a helping hand by many people because of his work ethic and abilities, which he was happy to do, working and staying busy instead of “standing around and talking about it.”
Grant was instrumental in developing the Byron Fishing Team, where he spent countless hours providing coaching, mentoring, and being a Boat Captain for many youth anglers. He was happiest when he was in the boat with his two kids competing in fishing tournaments across the state of Minnesota.
A new light in his life was his Fiancée, Bridget Koenen and her three daughters.
Grant is survived by his parents, Susan Moore (Jerry), Tia Schimek-Carlson (Keith), and Jackie Schimek; daughter, Reagan Schimek (special friend, Dylan) and son, Jacob Schimek; Fiancée Bridget Koenen and her daughters, Macy, Reese, and Taylor; Brothers, Ryan Schimek (Bri), Joe Schimek (Lauren), Brad Schimek (Caitlin) and sister, Rebecca Kraska (Jordan); Step-sisters, Anna Moore (Chad), Britney Fox (Julian), Angie Tutewohl (Alex), and Joey Tutewohl (Aaron).
Grant was adored by all his nieces and nephews, Harrison and Harper, Quinlynn and Tenley, Riley and LeRoy, Harvey and Eleanor, and Drayden, Chloe, and Carter.
Grant was preceded in death by his Schimek grandparents, Francis and Elizabeth; Grandpa Harvey; Grandpa Jug; and father, David Schimek.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for funds to help support Reagan and Jacob in their future.
The family will be having a celebration of life for Grant on Thursday, January 30th, 2025, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Goodhue, MN, from 3:00-7:00 pm.
