Diana M. Leonhardt
Diana Mae Leonhardt, 85, of Byron MN was called by her heavenly father and died on July 10, 2024 at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Rochester, MN.
Diana was born on March 6, 1939 in Winona, MN to Carl and Velma Clardy. She graduated from Winona High School and married James Leonhardt on July 11, 1959. She and Jim moved to Byron, MN where they raised their 4 sons. They moved to Rochester and after Jim’s passing in 2016 Diana returned to Byron in 2022. She lived at Byron Madonna Summit.
Diana enjoyed her family, her faith, vacations to northern MN with her favorite Itasca State Park.
She is survived by her sons Randy of Kenyon, Mike (Dawn) of Mantorville, Dan (Maria-Renee) of St Peter, and Jeff of Byron; 3 grandchildren Chad (Jordan) Leonhardt, Chelsey (Bryan) Schroeder and Sophia Grigsby; and 3 great grandchildren Harlyn, Marshall and Reid.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jim and sister Sonja.
Diana had a life-long faith in Jesus Christ. Her Christian spirit will be honored and memorialized at her funeral service on Monday July 15, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Rochester, MN. The family will share a visitation at 10:00am followed by a service at 11:00am. A lunch will follow before procession and internment at Byron Cemetery.

My sincere condolences to all of you for the loss of your mother. She and your father did an outstanding job raising you boys. The Leonhardt family was quite the people to enjoy in the classroom as well as on the field or court of play. May God Bless her soul and remind you of the fortunate lives your parents provided for you.

Dear Family of Diane,
My sister Lois phoned me today to hare the news of Diana. Lois and Sonja were also close friends. My oh my, we go back long way! We shared March Birthdays together! We were in St. Martin's Lutheran Grade School together! We were in our St. Matthew Lutheran Church Jr. Choir and youth group together which was called Walther League. Plus when our family moved to our home on Gilmore Avenue, we were fairly close neighbors and could walk to each other's home! We were close friends all the years of growing up! We sorta lost track of each other as I went to Nursing School in Rochester and then married and moved to North Carolina and many other states! We did have a wonderful visit with Jim ad Diana some years ago as we attended my class Reunion and rode the River Boat Tour together!
Diana was a terrific friend and I know she had a great faith in Jesus Christ! To the family, I am sorry for your loss, but as Christians we know that Diana is in the glories of heaven and all pain is gone! Together we all look forward to joining her upon our death as believers in Jesus Christ as our Savior!
If Diana could speak now I think she would say: "Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved!" Acts 16:31
May you dear family of Jim and Diana move forward and onward by (song) “Leaning on the Everlasting Arms” of our great and awesome God. It is only in Him that we can move, walk, talk, and share our love and smiles with this hurting world. We pray that you will continue to be a shinning ray of hope, love, and courage in Jesus to your family and to others.

I always told Diana that she was my oldest friend. We lived across the street from each other starting in 1944, in Winona. After high school, we sort of lost track of each other. I am sad to hear of her passing.
