Denise Frydenlund, 40, of Byron died Wednesday (September 6, 2017) at Mayo Clinic Rochester-Methodist Hospital after a lengthy and very courageous battle with cancer. She handled every challenge that was thrown at her with grace and dignity.
Denise was born December 2, 1976 in Rochester, MN to Larry and Roberta Heitman (Ramthun). She graduated from Zumbrota-Mazeppa High School in 1995. She graduated from Rochester Community & Technical College with an Associate of Arts degree in 1997 and Minnesota State University, Mankato with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting graduating magna cum laude in 1999. On September 7, 2002 she married Travis Frydenlund at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Rochester. The couple lived in Byron for 15 years and were blessed with three children, two daughters and a son. Denise worked for Smith Schafer and Associates as an auditor for 4 years and for US Bank as a credit analyst for 13 years.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Travis and children Kylie (11), Avery (8), and Tyler (8) all of Byron, MN; parents Larry and Roberta Heitman of Rochester, MN; sister Dawn Hensel and husband Latham (Gene) of Rochester, MN; nephews Deshawn Hensel of Rochester, MN and Dylan Hensel of Rochester, MN; parents-in-law Gerald and Carol Frydenlund of Albert Lea, MN; and sister-in-law Kirsten Thalberg and husband Jon of Monticello, MN. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Robert and Raeburn Ramthun; paternal grandparents Alfred and Norma Heitman; aunt Lois Heitman; and uncle Kenneth Ramthun.
Denise enjoyed scrapbooking; especially those special trips with Amy Hameister, Cheryl Stinson, and Michelle Arnold. She enjoyed attending all of her children’s many activities and cheering them on from the sidelines, and just spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed by all those she leaves behind.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the American Cancer Society in memory of Denise.
Byron Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences are welcome at www.byronfuneralhome.com.

What a strong and kind person. I feel fortunate to have known and worked with her so many years. I can't find the right words to express my profound sadness or sincere sorrow and condolences to her wonderful family, so I'll just say I'm thankful to have known Denise and will try hard to carry on and pass on some of the life lessons she taught me. Peace.
