Ginger Rae Nelson (Meyer)
Born: April 3, 1951 – Albert Lea, MN
Passed: October 20, 2025 – Kasson, MN
Ginger Rae Nelson (Meyer) was born on April 3, 1951, in Albert Lea, Minnesota. She grew up in Lake Mills, Iowa, and graduated from Lake Mills High School before attending Waldorf University in Forest City, Iowa.
On June 3, 1972, Ginger married Paul Nelson in Lake Mills, Iowa. In 1979, they moved to Kasson-Mantorville, Minnesota, where they made their home and raised their family. Throughout her life, Ginger held a variety of jobs—including positions at Farmstead Meats, Kasson State Bank, Dodge County Human Services, and several other roles—that allowed her to meet and connect with countless people. She cherished the friendships and relationships she built along the way.
Ginger loved life and all the simple joys it brought. She adored her dogs over the years—Buster, Sandy, Bridget, and Brooke—and found happiness in cheering on the Minnesota Vikings, following NASCAR, and recently embracing the Minnesota Twins. She loved escaping Minnesota’s cold winters in Arizona, socializing with friends during happy hour, and connecting with new people wherever she went.
Ginger passed peacefully on October 20, 2025, at her home in Kasson, surrounded by her loving family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Rosie and Veryl Meyer, and a baby brother. Ginger is survived by her devoted husband, Paul; her sons, Jeremy (Kiki) Nelson and John Alsaker; her granddaughter, Cassandra (Brandon) Van Den Hemel; her great-grandchildren, Adrian, Gemma, Alaina, and Harlee; and her brother, Kim (Julie) Meyer, and their children.
Ginger will be remembered for her warmth, her love of family and friends, and her zest for life. She leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and cherished memories that will live on in all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 1:00–4:00 p.m. at the Kasson American Legion, 212 W Main St, Kasson, MN 55944. Family and friends are invited to come share memories and celebrate Ginger’s life together.
