Dale Eugene Christenson
Dale Eugene Christenson, 90, of Rochester, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at The Mayo Clinic, Methodist Hospital.
Dale was born June 11, 1933 to Milo and Alice (Tangen) Christenson on a farm near Ostrander, MN. Dale attended rural elementary school and he graduated from Spring Valley High School and the University of Minnesota School of Agriculture. On July 12, 1958, in Byron, Dale married the love of his life, Patty Larsen. In October 1956, he began his career with IBM in Endicott, NY, returning to the Rochester location in 1957. Dale started as an apprentice tool and die maker and later on was a mechanical designer in manufacturing. He retired in 1987. Dale also operated a farm in Oronoco. In 1998, Dale and Patty moved to Rochester. Dale enjoyed family, fishing, and hunting. He also loved restoring antique furniture, tractors and spending time at their cabin. He was a member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, IBM Retirees Club, American Legion Post #92 and the Korean War Veterans Club. Dale was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Dale is survived by his wife, Patty; children, Mike (Sandy) of Rochester, MN, Bonnie (Mark) Har of Crystal, MN; his loving grandchildren; brother, Kermit (Jean) of Pine Island, MN; sisters, Ruby (Larry) Holsapple of Bloomington, MN, Priscilla (Doug) Rownd of Oronoco, MN, Linda (Chas) Johnson of Lakeville, MN, and numerous nieces and nephews. Dale was preceded in death by his son, Tom; brother, Merlin and by three sisters, Arlene Fisher, Barbara Golenzer and Cleone Schula.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 4, 2024 at the Byron Funeral Home, 1620 Voll Dr. NW, Byron, MN. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until time of the service. The Rev. Glenn Monson will be officiating with burial at Byron Cemetery. Military honors will be by the American Legion Post #92.
