Rhett B. Bush

Rhett, 64, of Byron, MN died in his home Thursday, October 5, 2017 surrounded by his family.  Rhett was born to George and Sarah Bush on March 23, 1953 in Denver, CO.  He moved to Fairmont, MN with his mother the summer of 1967.  He graduated from East Chain High in 1972.

On September 26, 1975 he married Marilyn Headington in Rochester, MN.  While raising their family in Byron he worked at the Byron Elevator (Agriland) for 25 years, followed by 17 years as a union carpenter for A.E. Benike and Weis Builders. He retired from the Carpenters Union in March 2016.

Throughout his life Rhett enjoyed crafting beautiful pieces of furniture for family and friends.  He also designed and built many projects for his grandchildren including a backyard play set, mini bike and various other beloved toys. He spent numerous hours with his sons building his ’54 Chevy.  He loved spending time adventuring outdoors with his family, caring for his backyard pond, and cruising on his motorcycle.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn, his sons Eric (Shianne) and Aaron, 4 grandchildren, Montana, Erianne, Graison, and Keeran Bush, all of Byron, MN. His sister, Daisy Bush of Mapleton, MN, his mother-in-law, Elaine Headington of Decorah, IA, 3 sister-in-laws, 1 brother-in-law and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, 6 sisters, father-in-law, and 2 brother-in-laws.

We ask all family and friends to join us in sharing memories of his life on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Johnny Mango’s Event Center in Byron, 505 Frontage Road from 1:30-4:30 pm.

My deepest sympathy to the Bush family. Rhett was a great guy and he will always be remembered. I worked with him for the elevator.
