Nancy Ann Kuhlmann

A memorial service for Nancy Kuhlmann will be at United Methodist Church, Byron, MN at 2 pm Wednesday July 26, 2017, with Pastor Elizabeth Macaulay officiating.  There will be a visitation at the Byron Funeral Home Tuesday July 25 from 5 to 7 pm, and an hour before the memorial service.  Interment will be at the Byron Cemetery.  Mrs. Kuhlmann, 81, died Friday, July 21, 2017 at Seasons Hospice of a brain tumor.  She had been ill for 10 months.

Nancy was born on August 17, 1935 in Marinette, WI to Milton and Mildred Arendt.  She graduated from Marinette High School and attended UW-Green Bay and the University of MN.   She met her husband Lyle Kuhlmann via a mutual friend, who was their best man.  They married on July 10th, 1955 at the Methodist Church in Byron.  Their 60th wedding anniversary was celebrated with nearly the entire family two years ago.  They have been married 62 years.

Lyle and Nancy returned to live in Byron in 1955.  Nancy was a loving mother and homemaker and served as Vice President at Byron Elevator Company working alongside her husband Lyle.  They retired from the business and moved to Anna Maria, FL in 1997.  Nancy served the church while teaching Disciple Class both at Byron United Methodist and Roser Church in Anna Maria, FL, prior to relocating to Charter House in Rochester last year.  Nancy also served as Vice Chair and Council Chairman at Roser Church and Lay Leader at Byron UMC.  Nancy enjoyed serving as liturgist at the churches she attended and being part of many Bible study classes over the years.  Nancy also served as board member for March of Dimes.

Nancy loved gourmet cooking, was a great cook and enjoyed her time in Gourmet Club with several couples.  Her family was regularly treated to delicious cooking at many family holidays and events over the years.  Nancy worked hard at staying fit, and could be seen biking, running, walking, leading exercise classes, arm wrestling all comers and “stepping it up”.  Nancy and Lyle enjoyed traveling many places around the world.  She enjoyed reading very much.  Nancy was a talented interior decorator, often called on by family and friends to create beautiful spaces in their homes.

Nancy is survived by her husband Lyle of Rochester at Charter House, son Lou (Jeanne) Kuhlmann of Byron, daughters Kay Petersen of Rochester and Nora (Joe) Kuhlmann-Lasky of New Orleans, LA.  Son Mike (Shelly) Kuhlmann of Rochester preceded her in death.  She is also survived by grandchildren Tyler(Jen), Alex(Kiley), Lance(Melissa) Kuhlmann and Marie (Joe) Kuhlmann-Magro, Nick and Pete(Alicia) Kuhlmann, Matt(Andrea) Petersen, Nina (Brad) Kreofsky, Maddie and Lee Petersen, and Max and Sasha Lasky, along with great grandchildren Kinley, Colette, Dane, Landon, Mya, Jaydon, Levi, Diego, Daniela, Sidney, Josh, Allie, Olivia, Jack. She is also survived by sister Virginia Pesola, and special family friend Sherry Oehler. She was preceded in death by brother Jack Arendt and sister Jeannette Samaniego, both of San Diego, CA.

The family prefers memorials to Brains Together for a Cure, www.brainstogetherforacure.org or Byron United Methodist Church.
