Loren Roger Wheeler

Loren Roger Wheeler, 80, of rural Byron, passed away peacefully at the Mayo Clinic, St. Marys campus on Thursday, September 26, 2024, with family near.

Loren was born in Mitchell County, Iowa, at home on the family farm on January 5, 1944 to Clyde and R. Dolores Wheeler of McIntire, Iowa. Loren proudly served in the US Navy from August 1964 until September 1968 aboard the U.S.S. Manatee as a boilerman. He married Audrey Stohr of LeRoy, MN,  on June 21, 1969. They enjoyed living on an acreage in rural Byron for many years. They were married 55 years. Loren was a life member of Harley Owners Group and enjoyed traveling throughout the US on motorcycle with Audrey, a Harley of course! Loren was  life member of Osage, Iowa V.F.W. and life member and supporter of the Disabled American Veterans. Loren enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, conversation and coffee with friends. The coffee was always on. His family, children, grandchildren and great-grands were the highlight of his life.

Loren is survived by his wife, Audrey; two children, son, Jim (Carolyn) and daughter, Jody (BJ) Ronken; five grandchildren, Haley (Daniel) Hoeppner, Dylan (Nikki) Wheeler, Emma Wheeler, Jordyn Bauer, Taylor Bauer; two great-grandchildren, Ezra and June Hoeppner and by his brother, Harlo Wheeler. Loren was preceded in death by both parents, Clyde and Dolores Wheeler, brother, Dean (Retha) Wheeler and sister-in-law, Marilyn Wheeler.

A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Community Celebration Church,  27337 County Highway 34, Kasson, MN 55944. A private family burial will be held at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston at a later date.

Condolences

The family of Loren Roger Wheeler has received the following condolences.

I had the privilege of meeting Loren as a member of the United States Navy. Loren was a “senior man” to this 17 year old recruit. He was a both a mentor and  a role model. He had a deep love for family, loyal friends and his future wife. He raised a fine family and was very proud of his son and daughter. I maintained contact with Loren from the 1960s to the present out of my respect for him. May he Rest In Peace and may God watch over his beloved family.

Sending Prayers to the Wheeler family. Even though I never met Loren I heard many stories from his daughter Jody. He sounded like a wonderful man. His wife Audrey is quite the lady. She is so kind. I want to send big hugs to her during this time.

Audrey and family,

So sorry to hear of Loren’s passing.   Sending you love and hugs at this difficult time 🩷💜🩷.
