Bonita C. Barnett

Bonita Caroline Barnett, 77 of Byron passed away peacefully on July 14, 2019.  God allowed a heart condition to take her to her eternal home.

She was born in October 7, 1941 to Ralph and Violet Godfrey in Minneapolis, MN.  During her toddler years the family moved to southern California but returned to Minneapolis after a few years.  She grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from North High School in 1969.

She entered the University of Minnesota to earn a nursing degree but switched to earning an Associates of Liberal Arts.  She was hired by the University of Minnesota Hospitals where she worked as a nurse for five years, and where she received special training in operating scanning and related medical devices.

She moved to California where she took a nursing job at the Stanford University Hospital.  After eight years, Bonnie took her nursing and medical “machine” skills to Dallas Texas, where she worked as an EEG specialist until she married late in life.

Her husband Gene Barnett died in 1992 after 13 years of marriage, and Bonnie continued her work in the medical field as a medical transcriptionist. After retirement, she moved to Byron, MN to be closer to family.

Bonita is survived by two sisters, Ramona Raske and Sharalyn Caughel, nieces Gretchen Gehl, and Becky Caughel, and nephews Nathan Gehl, Daniel Raske, and Weston Raske.  She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Lucas, Kameryn, Leanne, and Matthew Raske.  She was preceded in death by her husband Gene.
