Agnes “Eileen” Caulfield

Eileen Caulfield, 93, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on March 10, 2017, at Samaritan Bethany in Rochester.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Eileen Caulfield will be at 11:00, March 16, 2017 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Byron with Father Paul Suprenant officiating.  Visitation will be 4pm-7pm with rosary at 7pm, March 15 at Byron Funeral Home, 1620 Voll Drive NW, Byron, and one hour prior to the Mass at 10:00am on Thursday.  Burial will be at Byron Cemetery.

She was born January 13, 1924 in Rochester, MN to George and Mary (Kennedy) Keefe.  Eileen graduated from Lourdes High School in 1942.  On October 14, 1943, she married James Caulfield.  They made their home on the Caulfield family farm north of Byron.

Eileen was a charter member of Christ the King Catholic Church where she was active in the PCCW, women’s prayer groups, and taught religion.  As a mom, she instilled a deep faith, a sense of right and wrong, and the true values for life.  Also, her love of shopping, baking, and cleaning will always be treasured.  In the community, many were recipients of her cooking in times of need.  Also her acts of kindness, compassion, and respect will never be forgotten.

Eileen and Jim enjoyed an active social life; traveling, attending various musical events, weekly outings with friends, playing cards, and making time to visit community friends and family.  They were always supportive of Byron sports and education, and were honored to be inducted into the Byron Hall of Fame this past fall.

Eileen is survived by her loving husband of 73 years, Jim, 5 children; Wayne (Cheryl) Caulfield of Tucson, AZ, Carol (Walt) Hirschey of Hasting, MN, Diane (Bob) Eustice of Byron, MN, Don of San Diego, CA, Deb (Jan) Hanson of Rochester, MN; son-in-law Gene Goepferd of Maple Grove, MN; 18 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Shari Goepferd in 2016; granddaughter, Kristin Hirschey in 1978; siblings; Russell, Sylvester, Kenneth, and Mary.

Memorials are preferred to be used towards various charities that were important to Eileen.

Condolences

The family of Agnes “Eileen” Caulfield has received the following condolences.

My condolences to the family for the loss of your loved one, and may God be with you in your time of sorrow, while you take comfort in His future promise  to mankind, to do away with everything that causes us pain, suffering and sorrow, Revelation 21:3,4,5.

"What we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us." Helen Keller

With our deepest of sympathies

Sincere sympathy to Jim and the family.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I am very sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Aunt Eileen, though not by blood, and her family were always our families closest friends! Many nights of playing together with Jim and Eileen's kids while our parents played cards brought us all close. My prayers for 'Uncle Jim' and all the family as you gain strength from Jesus and the wonderful recollections of her life so honorably lived!      Love, Jeanne

What a wonderful lady.  She will be missed.  We so enjoyed seeing them at the Country Western Shows in Rochester.  Our sincere sympathy to Jim and all of her children and their families.  We are sure God was waiting with open arms for her.

Sending heartfelt sympathies and love to your whole family!

Heartfelt sympathies to you on the loss of your Wife, Mom and Grandma.

Always remember how cheerful Eileen was.

Jim & Eileen were our neighbors (the Bruce & Fuff Selle family) for many years when my family lived in Byron. They were like a second family to us! I can recall lots of cookies and candy that were given out to us as we passed by their house. Eileen will truly be missed. May you all find peace and comfort in the wonderful memories that you hold close to your heart.

With love,

My sympathy to the Caulfield family.  Be comforted with all your wonderful memories.  Eileen was a kind soul with a smile for everyone. She truly loved each and everyone of you.

To the Caulfield family,

I was very sad to hear about Eileen. She was a true matriarch. She was always so welcoming and kind but strong enough to keep everyone in line. She is whole again and with Sherry probably baking something delicious to go with a good cup of coffee.

May God comfort all of you in the palm of His hand.
